"... both in business and IT — experience that is best learned in the 'real world.' Most of all, however, I think the most beneficial part of this internship is the experience I've had in improving my communication skills.

"My primary responsibility is to provide helpful and effective technical support to RLI's user community. This is mostly done over the phone, but through email and in person. I was also assigned to several projects, including evaluating and suggesting improvements to a network monitoring system, writing an article for the IT newsletter and performing software upgrades for several users.

"It was tough adjusting to a full work day at first — especially with a night class twice a week from 6 to 9 p.m. But internships are an excellent opportunity to explore your options and gain experience that will most certainly be helpful in the future."
